The Zen Center with be holding our annual “Sitting into the New Year” event this Saturday, December 31st 2017 from 8:00pm until just after midnight. Our New Year’s Eve practice is “open sitting” so you should feel free to join in as your schedule allows. Come for one sit or two or three – come late, leave early, however your schedule permits. We hope you will join us!
Sitting periods will be 25-30 minutes with walking periods in between. Both cushions and chairs are available.
You are welcome to bring vegetarian snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to share (if you want – it is not required), and you are welcome to have tea or snacks in between sitting periods. We only ask that everyone keep silence throughout the evening. Five minutes before midnight we will begin chanting the Great Dharani and will continue to do so until five or ten minutes after midnight.
The Orlando Zen Center is located at 515 S Crystal Lake Dr in Orlando, FL. Parking is available on the mulch pad in front of the center, or on one of the nearby side streets.
Thank you all who came out and joined us for the October long sit! There was strong practice, good food, a bilingual dharma talk and much together action. Come join us next month to do it again – every 3rd Saturday of every month. Sitting, walking, chanting, formal vegetarian lunch, Dharma talk and a personal interview with a Senior teacher.
Due to the hurricane, Carlos will not be attending or doing interviews this Saturday. Instead, we will have a work retreat (combination of yard clean up and sitting) during the regular hours 9am – 3pm. You’re welcome to join us or just wait for us to reschedule with Carlos. If you’re on our email list you’ll be notified first about rescheduling.
