We are proud to announce that we will be hosting a YMJJ Meditation retreat at the Gainesville Retreat Center on the first weekend in November (afternoon of Thursday, November 5, 2015 through Sunday November 8 early afternoon) with teacher Ken Kessel, JDPSN (Ji Do Poep Sa Nim, “Guide to the Way”). Ken received inka (authorization to teach in the Kwan Um School of Zen) in April 1996 from Zen Master Seung Sahn after over twenty years of intensive study and practice.
The retreat will include bowing, chanting, sitting and walking meditation, formal kong-an (koan) interviews with the teacher, and formal vegetarian meals in the four-bowl style of the Kwan Um School of Zen. You may attend for all or a portion of the retreat.
If this is your first retreat, it is recommended that you attend the orientation session at 8 pm on Thursday, but you are not required to do so. If you are new and enter later than Friday morning, a senior student will spend some time with you to explain the basics.
The retreat will be held at the Gainesville Retreat Center, 1551 SE 51 St, Gainesville, FL 32641, a facility located on 100 acres of beautiful countryside near Gainesville, FL. See their website for additional details.
