Sitting into 2025

Once again, the tradition continues: Sitting into the New Year – online/on Zoom. We will start sitting at 8pm (EST) and alternate 30 minute sits with 10 min walks until shortly before midnight (Eastern Time). We then chant Kwan Seum Bosal (Bodhisattva of Compassion) into the New Year until ten minutes or so after midnight.Same READ MORE

Change change change

After Joybirds closed its doors, a new opportunity arose – in the same location!  From mid-November on, we will be able to meet again in person in the same bookstore location as before – the owner of the new bookstore  The New Romantics, has agreed to offer us the same space for our Sunday evening practice. Return of In-Person Sunday Practice

Orlando Zen Center is returning to in-person practice on Sunday evenings at Joybird Books in Audubon Park: 3018 Corrine Drive, Orlando, Florida 32803 Directions. If attending in person, please wear a mask. The Zoom option continues. READ MORE

ZM Jok Um: How do we respond to hate?

Our Zen Center’s Guiding Teacher, Zen Master Jok Um (Ken Kessel), gave a talk at an interreligious group in New Haven CT. The group meets once a month for part of a year and visits member places of worship and shares thematic presentations. This year’s theme was responding to hate crimes against places of worship.
